Internships - A Rewarding Experience

The Wellfleet Historical Society & Museum offers summer intern opportunities for high school, college and graduate-level students.

We are seeking a bright, motivated summer intern for the 2025 season! Although the 10 hour/week position is unpaid, we will offer a stipend commensurate to the hours and effort contributed to the Museum's mission. The successful candidate should be facile with IT and have an interest in museum science and/or history.

The WHS&M is a cherished town institution now preparing for an exciting future with our on-going renovation and expansion. We will train and work closely with you in different aspects of a non-profit historical society and museum. Areas of work could be in exhibitions, oral history program, collections, education, programs, public relations and development, and database management.

Come learn and help us grow!

Review from our Summer 2024 Intern, Tessa Fastiff:

“My summer internship at the WHSM was a great experience! I made scavenger hunts for kids to do around the museum, helped with the walking ghost tours, and assisted the Curator, David Wright. This was my favorite part, because I learned how to use the Museum's archive of newspaper clippings to answer research questions brought by Museum patrons. Not only did I enjoy meeting visitors and members of the Wellfleet community and finding the answers to their questions, but I also learned a lot of interesting Wellfleet history.”
